OA Holiday Families is Opportunity Academy's annual holiday giving program. Inspired by community giving programs like Angel Tree, we connect three San Diego families with a team of student athletes who handle everything — shopping, wrapping, and delivering gifts — so families can focus on being together.
Every December, our students put their community values into action. Families submit a wish list for their children, mom, and dad. Our students review the submissions, select three families, and spend the first week of December shopping and wrapping. Gifts are delivered the second week of December, just in time for the holidays.
How It Works
From your application to your doorstep in just six weeks — here is what to expect from start to finish.
Fill out the form below for your own family, or submit a nomination for a family you know. Applications are open November 1–21.
Our team reviews all submissions the last week of November and selects three families to receive gifts. Every family nominated is treated with care and confidentiality.
During the first week of December, our student athletes go shopping together, then wrap every gift as a team. They choose the items, they tie the bows.
The second week of December, gifts are delivered directly to each family — or families can arrange a pickup. Either way, the holidays come early.
Who Can Apply
OA Holiday Families is open to any family in San Diego County that could use support this holiday season. There is no income verification, no paperwork, and no judgment. If the holidays feel out of reach this year, this program is for you.
You can apply on behalf of your own family or nominate a family you know — a neighbor, a coworker, a member of your community. Nominations are submitted the same way as applications. We ask for a wish list with up to three gifts per person, so our students can shop with intention.
This year we are sponsoring three families. As OA Holiday Families grows, we hope to reach more families each December. Submitting an application this year, even if you are not selected, helps us understand the need in our community and plan for future years.
