About Opportunity Academy

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity should be, too.

Opportunity Academy is a San Diego youth leadership and development nonprofit. We help young people build confidence, supportive relationships, and practical skills for their future. Athletics can open the door. Mentorship, emotional wellbeing, financial literacy, career exposure, and service help youth grow beyond it.

Our Journey

Potential exists in every young person. Opportunity does not always. OA is building a supportive community where youth ages 11–18 can learn, lead, and connect with caring adults. During our pilot, we are building thoughtfully with youth and families.

Our Founders

D’Jay Scott | Visionary Founder and Executive Director

D’Jay is a lifelong athlete, coach, and nonprofit leader. He founded OA to expand access to the support and experiences that help young people shape their futures.

Sarah Gogarty, LMFT | Operational Founder and Chief Therapeutic Officer

Sarah brings therapeutic expertise and operational leadership to OA, making emotional wellbeing and supportive relationships central to the youth experience.

OA’s five pillars are Financial Literacy, Athletics-Based Mentorship, Career Readiness, Social-Emotional Learning, and Service.
