4. Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability
Participation in athletic training, camps, strength and conditioning sessions, competitive sports, and related activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
Physical injury
Illness
Accidental injury from equipment or facilities
Contact with other participants
By participating in Opportunity Academy programs, participants and/or parents or guardians acknowledge and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation.
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, Opportunity Academy, its directors, officers, coaches, volunteers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any injury, loss, damage, or claims arising out of participation in our programs or use of our Website.
5. California Civil Code Section 1542 Waiver
By agreeing to these Terms, you expressly waive the protections of California Civil Code Section 1542, which states:
"A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release."
You acknowledge that you understand and voluntarily waive this provision.
6. Code of Conduct
All participants, parents, volunteers, and visitors are expected to uphold a standard of conduct that reflects Opportunity Academy’s values.
The following behaviors may result in removal from programs without refund:
Harassment or bullying
Discrimination
Unsafe or reckless conduct
Disrespect toward staff, coaches, or participants
Disruptive behavior
Opportunity Academy reserves the right to determine conduct violations at its discretion.
7. Volunteer Screening and Background Checks
Opportunity Academy may require volunteers, coaches, and staff to complete background checks, training, and screening processes before working with youth participants.
Participation as a volunteer is contingent upon successful completion of these requirements.
We reserve the right to deny or terminate volunteer status at our discretion.
8. Donations and Payments
All donations are voluntary and generally non-refundable.
Program fees, if applicable, may have specific refund policies disclosed at registration.
Unless otherwise stated:
Cancellations by participants may be eligible for partial refunds at our discretion.
No refunds will be issued for removals due to Code of Conduct violations.
Payments are processed through third-party payment providers. Opportunity Academy does not store full credit card numbers.
9. Media Release
Opportunity Academy may photograph or record participants during programs and events.
By participating, you grant Opportunity Academy permission to use images, video, or likeness for:
Marketing materials
Website content
Social media
Promotional materials
